In 2010, Paul Nyk moved from Kenya to the US to get his education. He had one goal in mind: to one day start his own business. After getting his degree in Accounting from Cal State East Bay, he became an auditor at Ernst & Young, then eventually moved to a smaller firm to become a full-service accountant that specializes in tax preparation and bookkeeping. After observing labor shortages and knowledge gaps in several firms, Paul envisioned creating a team from scratch that could provide high-quality service at lower costs.
Paul was the top performer at each firm he worked for and had all the knowledge needed to build a world class accounting operation, but needed someone that knew systems and technology to help serve more clients while keeping costs low.
That’s when he reached out to his friend from college, Pranav Palasamudram, and his business partner, Nick Arnaiz.
Pranav and Nick both come from small business-owning families and have had entrepreneurship on the mind since grade school. Collectively, the two of them have started and sold 2 businesses and have helped 3 separate technology companies grow to 7 and 8-figure annual revenues.
Together, the trio founded Copper Accounting. While Paul grows and manages the accounting team, Nick and Pranav handle all of the business operations.
